Torre del Lago, 27th, November 2013

On the 29th November 2013, in occasion of the eightieth anniversary of the death of the Maestro, the Museum Villa Puccini in Torre del Lago will reopen after the annual closure period for ordinary maintenance and interior renovations, which have regarded the Chapel where the composer is buried with the family. It was Giacomo’s son, Antonio, who decided to create a chapel inside the Villa to host the Maestro after his death.

The project was entrusted to Eng. Vincenzo Pilotti, who collaborated with Adolfo de Carolis, one of the most important artists of the Italian Liberty, and with the sculptor Antonio Maraini , who embellished with decorative harmony and musical allegories the room which used to be a sitting room. Thanks to the restoration, marble and gypsum have been returned to their authentic state and visitors will be able to appreciate the original aspect of the decorations.

On the occasion of the anniversary celebrations, after the ceremony on the Belvedere around 4:30 p.m., the access to the Villa will be free of charge in order to enable those present to pay homage at the tomb of the Maestro.
