Nowadays, the Villa still belongs to the Puccini family. The present-day owner is Simonetta Puccini, the only descendant of the Maestro: she took possession of the Villa only in 1996 after many years of hereditary causes, during which the house has gone through a period of decline and neglect. Since then, there have been several restoration works that have given back to the Villa the appearance of a still inhabited house. The year 2012 saw the end of major renovations to the roof and to the façade, restored to its former colour, thanks to sponsors such as Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca and Caparol. It has been a hard and difficult process, that nonetheless finds continually positive feedbacks from many excited and involved visitors, true witnesses of the immortality of Puccini’s melodies.
