Exactly 115 years have passed since the Villa in Torre del Lago which Puccini loved and lived intensely, was inaugurated in the year 1900. A century later the house where the Maestro dwelt with his family for over twenty years, now a museum visited by tourists from all over the world, is returning to its former glory thanks to the restoration wanted by the grandaughter of the composer Simonetta Puccini and the Association “Friends of the Homes of Giacomo Puccini”, started in 2012 with the contribution given by the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.

After the renovation of the roof and the façade looked after by Fabio Francesconi Company and Caparol GmbH, in the coming weeks also the Bedroom of Giacomo and Elvira Puccini will return accessible to the public with the original look from 1905, when the Maestro himself renewed furnishings inspired by the green, the lake and the lush vegetation surrounding the residence. The big brass bed, the closet, the dresser, the desk and the whole furniture have traveled back in time, to the point that by crossing the threshold of the room just restored, any visitor has the feeling of traveling back to the early ’900 when the composer was at the height of his activity while the notes of his famous Operas resounded in the house. With great satisfaction, the Management of the Villa Museum is therefore pleased to announce that Friday, September the 4th at 12 a.m. the Bedroom of Puccini and his wife it was officially open to the public.

We thank the Foundation Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca in the person of President Dr. Arturo Lattanzi, Restorers Marco Pinna, Massimiliano Tani and Luxury White, Professor Giovanni Godi, Architect Glauco Borella of Superintendence for the Architectural Heritage and the Landscape of Lucca and Professor Peter Apel and his wife Elke, members of Friends of the Homes of Giacomo Puccini. The Museum management reserves to the members a week to book a preview tour of the Villa and the restored Bedroom. To book a free visit, valid for four people, see the portal www.museogiacomopuccini.it.
